WWE RAW: Brock Lesnar eyes Universal title rematch after SummerSlam amid UFC return links | WWE | Sport

Roman Reigns ended Lesnar’s 504-day reign at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York after delivering three devastating Spears to the former champion.

The Beast’s advocate Paul Heyman told RAW General Manager Kurt Angle that his client wants the chance to regain the title at Hell in a Cell on September 16 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Heyman said: “My client Brock Lesnar would like to invoke his contractually-obligated rematch clause.

“Roman Reigns beat Brock Lesnar last night  for the championship. Nobody is complaining, we’re offering you no excuses.

“I know what you’re thinking, I know what’s going through your head. ‘Brock Lesnar would be halfway down the road to UFC by now’.

“Brock Lesnar goes where Brock Lesnar wants to go and Brock Lesnar is going to want to know when he gets his contractually-obligated rematch.

“I’m not envisioning it happening next week Mr General Manager, I’m thinking it’s way, way, way, way down the road where my client Brock Lesnar invokes his contractually-obligated rematch clause at Hell in a Cell.”

Angle though refused to book the rematch as he now has a full-time Universal Champion.

Lesnar rarely competes in WWE as he has signed a part-time deal with Vince McMahon’s company and made very few appearances as champion.

The RAW GM replied: “Are you kidding me? A rematch? For the Universal Championship?

“Listen, I read the contract too and it doesn’t state in the contract when the rematch will be.

“See, I have a fighting champion right now. And it will be a long, long, long, long, long, long time before Brock Lesnar gets his rematch.

“It will be a cold day in hell. Or as they say in Brooklyn, forget about it.”

Lesnar has been linked with a return to UFC where he may challenge Daniel Cormier for the UFC Heavyweight Championship.

The two heavyweights sparked a feud at UFC 226 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada where DC beat Stipe Miocic and became the second fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously.

After the fight Cormier invited the five-time world champion to join him in the Octagon and that led to an intense confrontation.

Moments after coming face-to-face The Conqueror nearly sparked a brawl by pushing the UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion before delivering a profanity-laden tirade.
