Next year is startlingly free of major comicbook movies. The main Marvel Phased One, Two and Three have wrapped. Nor will there be any Star Wars offerings. Luckily, it is the ladies to the rescue with Wonder Woman 1984 and the Black Widow standalone bringing superpowered excitement to the big screen. The Queen of the DCEU just released the first teaser trailer and will unveil her first full official trailer later this weekend – and we know when and where to watch it.

The teaser is already packed with action, Wonder Woman using her lasso to dazzling effect and dodging bullets with her usual ease.

The trailer opens with Trevor telling her “The world needs you.” Then Wonder Woman delivers the powerful line: “Nothing good is born from lies and greatness is not what you think.”

In a world where politics and power suddenly seem to divide people like never before, with very different opposing views of truth, it feels like Wonder Woman is on a mission to save mankind from a different kind of threat than last time.

Hopefully, more will be revealed in the full trailer tomorrow. The teaser just confirmed when it will be shown worldwide.

The teaser is a tantalising glimpse before Wonder Woman 1984 drops its first full trailer tomorrow, Sunday, December 8. It will be shown first exclusively at Brazil XXCP, one of the world’s biggest comic cons.

The news was confirmed this week and the studio and stars like Gal Gadot have been busy promoting the big reveal.

But what time exactly can the rest of the world join in the fun?

According to the official announcement, the trailer will be shown during the Wonder Woman 1984 panel at the convention.

The panel runs from 5:30pm to 6:15pm BRT (8.30pm to 9.15 pm in the UK), with the trailer launch originally expected to come near the end.

However, the new US teasers simply say 12.30pm Pacific Time, which is 3.30pm on the East Coast and 8.30pm in the UK.

The teaser already shows Diana Prince in action, with Steve Trevor at her back. She seems to be breaking into some sort of official building and dealing with armed guards with her usual flair.

You can just glimpse Pine’s Steve Trevor in the background in his new 1980’s look, complete with natty tracksuit and trailers

Setting during the 1980s, Wonder Woman 2 sees Diana Prince taking on the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

Meanwhile, Kristen Wiig, who plays the villain, is “a British anthropologist who, after locating the lost city of Urzkartagan and stumbling into an ancient ritual, becomes the avatar of their Cheetah god.”

Wonder Woman 1984 also sees the return of Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor. The WWI pilot perished in Wonder Woman, but director Patty Jenkins shared a picture of him in the follow-up, igniting feverish speculation and theories.

Not only is he somehow back, but he’s the same age he was in the first film and dressed in 1980s clothes. How is that possible?

A source close to Jenkins told Vulture: “It’s a stand-alone film in the same way that Indiana Jones or Bond films are, instead of one continuous story that requires many instalments.”

Producer Charles Roven said this movie “should be the next iteration of Wonder Woman but not a sequel… It’s a completely different time frame and you’ll get a sense of what Diana-slash–Wonder Woman had been doing in the intervening years.”

Wonder Woman 1984 hits UK cinemas on June 5, 2020.
