Brown is currently on a triumphal international tour after his latest book, Iron Gold topped the New York Times lists.
In fact, with adulation everywhere he goes and screaming admirers it almost resembles the kind of progress and reception his hero Darrow would have made.
Luckily, however, his Howlers (as the fans call themselves) may be a feisty and devoted bunch, but the there has been no major bloodshed along the way.
I caught up with him at the London main book signing at Foyles on Charing Cross Road. During a cheeky and irreeverent private chat before the main event, we covered Iron Gold plot spoilers, TV and film plans, whether the Book 5 release date might shift and much more.
