There’s nothing more satisfying than working super hard and being able to take time off. That’s part of why we put in those long days—so that we can go on adventures or simply relax at home.
But increasingly, relaxing on those days off, or even taking those days off, is proving impossible for many employees. Nearly half of all people don’t even get to take all their vacation days, fearing their deadlines or simply a mountain of work. And not taking a vacation leads to unhappy and unhealthy employees who are more stressed and don’t even live as long.
One of the easiest ways to actually take that vacation is to do some planning—and we’re not talking about planning the week before. About six months ahead of time, make that request for the time off so that everyone has plenty of notice. What else should you do? This graphic explains it.
