The Bulgarian Brute was originally planned to face Undertaker in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia three months ago but WWE quickly replaced him with Chris Jericho instead.
However, the ex-US Champion was reinstated to the bout and lost to The Deadman at the King Abdullah International Stadium.
During an episode of the WWE Network show Ride Along, Rusev told his wife Lana and partner Aiden English that he was pulled out of the match after laughing at WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon when he told him he will face The Phenom.
However, the former NXT star claims the Prince of Saudi Arabia insisted on having him in the match due to the Smackdown superstar’s immense popularity.
Rusev said: “Remember when Vince told me I’m going to face The Undertaker and I laughed at him? And what I get for it? I got pulled out [from the match].
“And then the Prince [of Saudi Arabia] called and he told me Rusev Day is coming to town baby.”
The Bulgarian Brute’s Rusev Day gimmick has earned him enormous popularity on Smackdown and gets cheers regularly even though he competes as a half-hearted heel who thinks every day is dedicated to him.
He is now scheduled to face AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules on July 15 at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Undertaker is scheduled for another big match at WWE Super Show-Down on October 6 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia where he will face legendary rival Triple H for the last time ever.
