UFC News – Conor McGregor’s striking coach discusses Khabib Nurmagomedov fight
Conor McGregor’s striking coach Owen Roddy doesn’t believe Khabib Nurmagomedov will let The Notorious’ mind games affect his game plan for their UFC 229 grudge match.
“No, not really, to be honest,” Roddy told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto when asked if he thought Nurmagomedov could be goaded into standing with McGregor. “If there is (a possibility), if he does stand with him, it will be over very quickly, I believe.
“I think Khabib will come in with the same game plan that he has for everybody. Which is shoot, shoot for dear life.
“For me, that’s the only chance he really has. He’ll have to stand (with Conor).
“The thing is, they start standing. He’ll have to stand. And if he’s there for an extended period of time, it’s very very dangerous for him.”
UFC News – Nate Diaz seemingly withdraws from UFC 230
Nate Diaz has seemingly hinted he’s decided to pull out from his UFC 230 bout with Dustin Poirier as the promotion haven’t made the fight for the 165lbs title, a belt which has yet to be introduced by the organisation.
“UFC just told me that Dustin doesn’t want to fight at 165lbs,” he tweeted in the early hours of Friday morning. “I b (sic) bak next year.”
Diaz, 30, hasn’t set foot inside the cage since his UFC 202 bout with Conor McGregor, which he lost via majority decision.
UFC News – Daniel Cormier takes aim at Jon Jones
UFC light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has hit back at Jon Jones after seeing his bitter rival’s comments on his reaction to the retroactive 15-month suspension he received from the United States Anti-Doping Agency for his failed drug test ahead of their UFC 214 grudge match
“So here we go again Jonny boy. First off, if you did nothing wrong and were ‘innocent’ then you’d have never been suspended,” Cormier wrote on Instagram.
“You’ve had to stand before these people and arbitrators so many times it’s insane. So you slipped again, how many times can one man slip?
“I’ve been tested 70 times and I haven’t slipped once. How do you explain that? And on top of all the cheating you’ve done around UFC 182, UFC 200 and UFC 214 that’s not even the straw that broke the camel’s back. You are actually a SNITCH!
“You think you’re the only one that’s been offered this deal? No, you’re just the only scumbag low enough to take it! Which one of your teammates did you tell on to get this joke of a punishment from USADA!
“I thought there was nothing lower than a cheater but it’s not surprising that you show me a whole new level. You’re a cheater and a SNITCH! Get off my page and go do some coke, or steroids or whatever you losers do in your spare time.”
