“I want to stay at Rangers and I am as hungry and determined to get the good days back here as I have ever been,” Gerrard said.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Man Utd business
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is adamant top players want to go to Old Trafford – despite seeing Paulo Dybala and Jadon Sancho snub the Red Devils over the summer.
“Agents might not want to [go to United] but players will do,” Solskjaer said. “I don’t speak to too many agents.
“United are the biggest and best in the world and I’m sure there’s so many players in the world who want to be part of the rebuild. Our players and fans enjoy our football and opposition players will like to be part of it as well.”
United missed out on Dybala and Sancho as they tried to bolster their attack after the forwards opted to stay at Juventus and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

Arsenal hopes questioned
Arsenal will be fortunate to appoint Carlo Ancelotti given his record of managing clubs at the top of the game.
That is the verdict of Liverpool legend Graeme Souness, who raised doubts about the Gunners’ chances of landing the Italian while appearing as a pundit on Virgin Media.
“Would the big managers take Arsenal at the moment? I’m not so sure,” Souness said. “I don’t think the next man at Arsenal is going to be the one to turn the corner for them.
“I think there’s a lot of work to be done there, especially with those players. I think [Ancelotti] is a big manager and if you look at the jobs he’s had – Real Madrid, PSG, Chelsea – you know Arsenal are a fabulous club, but right now it’s a difficult job, whoever gets it.”

Erling Braut Haaland transfer advice
Erling Braut Haaland should continue listening to his father Alf-Inge as he weighs up where his future lies when he leaves Red Bull Salzburg.
That’s according to Jan Aage Fjortoft, who told Goal: “His dad is proving to be a good adviser for him as he knows from his experience how the game works and understood that moving to Salzburg when he did and turning down an offer from Juventus was the best option for Erling’s development.
“Things might be different in the upcoming January transfer window and, if a club comes in with enormous amounts of money, they will have to let him go.
“From Salzburg’s point of view, this may be the perfect moment to sell him for the biggest price after he scored eight goals in the Champions League and then it will come down to making the right choice for Team Haaland.”

Chelsea target Nathan Ake could leave Bournemouth in January admits Cherries boss Eddie Howe as the Blues plot a deal to take the defender back to the south coast.
Are was on Chelsea’s books as a youngster and they can re-sign him for a knockdown £40m thanks to a clause in the agreement which took him to Bournemouth.
Howe said: “It would be obviously my wish to hold onto everybody but some of these things are out of our control. We will wait and see. I don’t want to give you evasive answers but I am in no control of that at the moment.
“A lot of things with transfers [from] trying to bring players in, trying to keep the squad we have is out of my hands. Obviously, we will be doing our best to be as strong as we can into the second half of the season.”

Man Utd hit with transfer warning
Manchester United must rely on one of Donny van de Beek’s more high-profile suitors dropping out of the race for him if they are to secure a deal.
That’s the verdict of ESPN pundit Alejandro Moreno, who says United are no longer on a par with the likes of Real Madrid.
“Once you start flirting with clubs like Real Madrid and the level of those clubs, Manchester United becomes a secondary target,” Moreno said. “If he goes there, it’s because one of the other deals didn’t work out.”
Van de Beek is one of Europe’s most highly-rated young midfielders but on Tuesday night was unable to help stop Ajax being eliminated from the Champions League.
