LIVE: Portugal vs Republic of Ireland – John Egan gives Irish shock lead after Cristiano Ronaldo saw his penalty SAVED by Gavin Bazunu… with Scotland 2-0 down to Denmark in World Cup qualifier

Cristiano Ronaldo can complete a memorable week by smashing yet another record and becoming the all-time highest international goalscorer should he find the net against Republic of Ireland for Portugal.

His country face Stephen Kenny’s men on home soil in their first World Cup qualifier, and Ronaldo will go above Ali Daei, who he is currently tied with on 109 goals, if he gets on the scoresheet.

The Portuguese superstar stunned the football world by sealing his Manchester United homecoming after leaving Juventus on deadline day, and he’ll be keen to ensure he keeps the milestones coming at the age of 36.

There are more home nations in action tonight too – Scotland are up against Euro 2020 heroes Denmark for the start of their qualifying campaign.
