Christian Eriksen’s agent has spoken out after the midfielder collapsed worryingly during Denmark’s game with Finland at Euro 2020.
The player’s agent, Martin Schoots, said: “Christian Eriksen breathes and can speake. He’s awake”.
This latest update comes after statements from both UEFA and the Danish national team confirmed that Eriksen was conscious and stabilised in a nearby hospital.
Onlookers and team-mates were initially horrified as Eriksen collapsed inexplicably towards the end of the first-half in Copenhagen.
Medical assistance was rushed onto the pitch and the Danish team surrounded their compatriot as he received CPR while still on the field.
Those in the broadcasting studio were visibly shaken by the event, with Alex Scott on the verge of tears.
Gary Lineker has since apologised for the BBC’s coverage of the incident which showed prolonged footage of Eriksen receiving treatment while unconscious.
The game has been temporarily postponed and further information is expected at 19:45.
