Conte looks set to be shown the door by Roman Abramovich despite salvaging Chelsea’s season by guiding them to the FA Cup after a 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Saturday at Wembley.
The Italian tactician was very vocal over the past 12 months in expressing his fury at the club’s transfer policy.
A number of candidates have been linked to the potential vacancy, including as Express Sport understands, Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic.
It is understood that the Blues hierarchy have been impressed with Jokanovic’s free flowing football this season has helped the west London outfit reach the Championship play-off final.
As far as Conte is concerned, he could take a break to weigh up his options.
The Daily Telegraph suggest should Conte take a mini sabbatical, it would be a big blow to the Blues as they would still have to pay out the final year of his contract which is £9million.
It is suggested he may wait around for one of Europe’s top jobs if it becomes available.
The report suggests that some of Conte’s backroom staff could stay on at Stamford Bridge.
One of those is goalkeeping coach Gianluca Spinelli who is prepared to carry on even if Conte leaves.
Former Blues defender Frank Sinclair thinks the Blues should give the job to academy manager Jody Morris.
“It would be a great opportunity right now to go for the likes of a Jody Morris, who has been unbelievably successful in these last two seasons,” Sinclair said.
“Let him have the remit of bringing these youngsters through to the first team along with the team that he has at the moment. Give them an opportunity.
“It might take 18 months before you get the success back at the club but at least you’ve got stability and you’ve got young players coming through which will save you a lot of money as well.”
