YouTube conspiracist Secureteam10 uploaded the bizarre video this morning.
Tyler, the channel’s owner, says in the clip: “A guy with a telescope or telescopic camera was zooming up to the moon when suddenly right on the horizon line, right on the edge of the moon we see what has been described as some sort of base or large machine or floating UFO.”
He adds that the UFO “appears to be connected or floating just above the edge of the moon before finally disappearing behind it or down on to it”.
The footage shows the moon beaming in the clear blue sky.
On the right-hand side of the moon, a shadowy object can be seen floating just above its curvature.
Within seconds, the orb-like object slowly disappears out of sight.
Tyler then raises the contrast brightness and brought down the colour of the image to give the video a sense of being recorded at night.
He says: “There’s an obvious structure of some sort sticking up, popping its little head up out of the side of the moon here.”
More than 25,000 people have seen the clip since it was posted a matter of hours ago.
One person said: “That’s easily hundreds of miles across. Just to give a reference.”
Another added: “I would say that’s a damn UFO mothership.”
Not everyone bought into the claim, however.
Renowned UFO debunker ufointerest.org claimed the video was faked using “CGI”.
Another viewer agreed, adding: “He just so happens to zoom in on the moon as this floats behind. Coincidence? Maybe? Or CGI?”
On Friday, a video emerged showing an “alien lifeform in a New Mexico desert“.
