Even rock superstars know time is not on Hizzoner’s side.
Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger poked fun at Mayor Bill de Blasio’s notorious tardiness at MetLife stadium Monday night — joking that he missed all but one song of their hit-packed show.
“Oh, look — Mayor de Blasio’s just shown up!” Jagger quipped as he pretended to point out the presidential hopeful in the audience towards the end of the band’s two-song encore.
Fittingly, given how his quixotic presidential bid and popularity in his home state has been going, had de Blasio actually been there, the one song he would have heard would have been, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
Jagger was in a jocular mood during the Stones’ second night at the East Rutherford stadium, taking delight in news coverage of his recent pit stop at the 24-hour Tick Tock Diner in nearby Clifton.
Despite an artery-clogging meal of Taylor ham, eggs, cheese, fries and a sloppy Joe being a questionable choice for a 76-year-old recovering from heart surgery, Jagger seemed shocked that his meal gained such prominent coverage.
“I’ll be at my booth later,” Jagger joked of the trucker-friendly diner.
