Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho reaches resignation decision amid Ed Woodward tensions | Football | Sport

Manchester United manager Mourinho retains the support of Woodward despite the Red Devils’ worsening results.

The Red Devils are in full-on crisis mode and, with Newcastle next up, fans continue to fear the worst.

The Times say Mourinho, though, is determined to be a Manchester United hit.

And despite feeling a lack of support from many inside the club, Woodward included, he has decided he will NOT be stepping down.

Many United players reportedly think Mourinho’s days at Old Trafford are numbered.

The Champions League stalemate with Valencia on Tuesday night was a pivotal moment in his Red Devils career with fans jeering the team off at full-time.

Videos have also surfaced on social media showing fans bombarding Mourinho with abuse as he trudged off the turf.

Mourinho is understood to still be furious at Woodward’s refusal to sign a centre-back back in the summer.

But, despite that, The Times say he is eager to battle on.

Mourinho has won league titles everywhere throughout his career – at Chelsea, Inter Milan, Porto and Real Madrid.

And he feels he has the nous to make United replicate the side that dominated English football under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Tomorrow’s match, however, is vital.

Newcastle visit Old Trafford having won none of their opening seven matches.

Rafa Benitez’s position at the club has grown uncertain amid the rut.

But the former Liverpool boss would relish the chance to put another nail in Mourinho’s coffin given the history between the duo.

Mourinho has been critical of Benitez throughout his career.

But the Newcastle boss may get the last laugh tomorrow.
