The bizarre object was seen hovering above trees in the tropical paradise of Bermuda.
The Reddit user, who has since deleted their account, said the Google Maps image was “solid and clarified proof and evidence of a UFO metal saucer”.
The “alien” dark object is the classic flying saucer shape when viewed zoomed in – but it is not clear if it has been doctored.
One impressed Reddit user wrote: “That’s actually pretty crazy,” in response to the post.
“There are quite a few on Google Earth. You just have to have a look”
Another believer added: “There are quite a few on Google Earth. You just have to have a look.”
But others slammed the claim and said the mystery blob probably had a mundane explanation.
One commented: “That could easily be a bird.”
Another attacked the original poster, slamming them for posting ridiculous claims.
They blasted: “You are more certain it’s a metal saucer than a bird?
“So let me ask. How are you positive regarding that?
“I think that claim warrants a hell of a lot more expanding and clarifying than claiming it’s a bird, which do tend to fly around in the air, in the tropics.”
But the “spaceship” is the latest in a spate of mysterious or awkward images captured on Google Maps.
A cheating wife was divorced by her husband after being found getting touchy-feely with another man on Street View.
Google also showed a naked man doing something rather strange on a front porch.
And shockingly, some Google Maps users claim there is evidence of a dragon fossilised in the desert.
And a game-changing discovery sparked renewed efforts to find the missing passenger jet MH370 in the Cambodian jungle.
