FORTNITE UPDATE ONE – Wednesday 9.20pm: As Express.co.uk reported earlier, Fortnite patch V.2.5.0 – which will bring with it the Valentine’s Day event – will be released tomorrow.
The official Fortnite Twitter account tweeted the news, and added that currently there is no ETA (estimated time of arrival) for when the patch will launch.
The Fortnite Twitter account posted: “Patch v.2.5.0 is planned to release tomorrow, February 15. ETA coming soon.”
The Fortnite Valentine’s Day event will bring with it themed skins, the Cupid’s crossbow weapon and a new quest for Save The World.
The Fortnite event will come with patch V.2.5.0, which was originally scheduled to launch today.
It’s not been confirmed whether Epic Games will take Fortnite servers down to prepare for the rollout of the update.
Explaining the delay in the release of Fortnite patch V.2.5.0, Epic Games in a Reddit post said: “Our v.2.5.0 update will release tomorrow, we apologize for the poor communication around this release and the delay of the patch! When we have more info on when the update will land, we’ll drop those details.
“What’s up with Seasonal Gold and Firecracker Tickets? Our initial plan was to reset Seasonal Gold in v2.5.0 which may have caused you to lose leftover gold.
“To try and avoid that we adjusted to convert the leftover gold to Firecracker Tickets. Due to the delay in the build, there is nothing in the event store and Storm Llamas have disappeared.
“We did a poor job communicating this and did not create a good experience for you. Future gold resets will be on specific dates, following the Spring it on Event, and we will communicate that information to you in advance.
“For now, Seasonal Gold will be converted to Firecracker Tickets.
“We’ll be adding a random Blue Schematic (no limit on number) to the store, for you to spend any leftover Seasonal Gold you have.
“Current conversion rates can we found below: Each stack of 1000 Storm Event Tickets has been exchanged for Storm Llamas. Up to 3000 Seasonal Gold will be converted 3 to 1 into Firecracker Tickets, and any additional gold beyond that will be lost.”
Fortnite patch V.2.5.0 was originally scheduled to become available to download on PS4, Xbox One and PCs today.
However, the release of the update on PS4, Xbox One and PCs was delayed by Epic Games.
The North Carolina based developer have now confirmed to Express.co.uk that the big update will be launching on Thursday.
It’s unclear at the moment if there will be any server downtime before the Fortnite update gets rolled out.
The Fortnite Valentine’s Day event will bring with it themed skins, the Cupid’s crossbow weapon and a Save The World quest entitled A Love Story.
Epic Games told us that Fortnite patch V.2.5.0 will be releasing tomorrow morning.
Patch notes usually get released a day before an update lands, so fans can expect that information to be revealed soon.
Here is everything that’s meant to come with the Fortnite update
• Valentine’s Event
• Special Valentine’s questline – A Love Story, told the Fortnite way
• Valentine’s-themed Heroes
• Cupid Crossbow
• New reactive quest type
• Opt-In Difficulty increase for greater challenge and rewards
The seasonal gold reset is also scheduled to happen with patch V.2.5.0.
The Fortnite team lifted the lid on the Valentine’s Event last week, detailing what was in store for fans.
In a blog post they said: “Valentine’s day is coming and Fortnite is getting in the spirit. Feeling lovey-dovey?
“Then grab yourself Valentine’s Day themed skins in Battle Royale. Gunpowder, not your thing? The new Crossbow allows you to hunt your prey the old-fashioned way.
“Eliminate your targets with stealth and finesse with this new addition. Need more love? For our Save the World fans, our new Valentines themed quest starts.”
