Epic has delivered its first Fortnite server status update of the day, explaining that Battle Royale will be taken offline at 9am BST.

“Impact is imminent!” Epic tweets. “Downtime for the Season 4 update is scheduled for tomorrow, May 1 at 4:00am Eastern Time (08:00 GMT).”

Epic is yet to reveal when Fortnite will be back online, but fans should expect a lengthy period of downtime.

The Fortnite developer is getting ready to usher in a new season of content, so update 4.0 is expected to be a big one.

Even when Fortnite does come back online, there’s likely to be a few teething problems generated by the new content and increased interest in the game.

Express Online will keep you updated with the latest server developments as and when they happen.

We’ll also have Fortnite Battle Royale patch notes when they’re released.

Fortnite Battle Royale Season 4 was confirmed by Epic Games earlier this week.

The latest Epic Games tweet warns fans to brace for impact, because Season 4 is about to begin.

“Brace for impact! Witness Season 4 tomorrow,” the tweet reads.

The first Season 4 teaser told fans to “battle, attack and win”, while the second urged fans to “fight with honour”.

A third superhero skin encouraged players to “check every corner, box and bush”, followed by a fourth teaser with the tagline: “Leave your mark.”

The launch of Season 4 is expected to coincide with the destruction of Dusty Depot in Fortnite.

That’s according to a new post on Reddit, which claims that Epic has wanted to update Dusty Depot for a long time.

Likewise, the post suggests that the comet strike will usher in a new and evolving Fortnite Battle Royale map.

The map will reportedly be updated on a weekly basis, presumably with the regular update. Epic is said to have been disappointed with the way Tilted Towers was introduced with no fanfare.

Moisty Mire is also believed to be on the way out, but not until the end of Season 4.
