Fortnite Save the World saw a flurry of activity this week as Epic Games celebrated the birthday of the game franchise.
This included launching new Birthday Llamas in STW, which came with their own unique rewards.
Fans can earn tickets to spend on Birthday Llamas, which can contain Heroes and weapons from every event this year (not including quest rewards).
However, problems have been flagged with the new Birthday Llamas, with Epic Games providing more on the situation.
According to the development team, the Hydra Weapon has not been dropping as a prize, among other issues.
“We’ve been seeing comments about the Hydra not dropping from Birthday Llamas, so we did some investigating into if something was going on,” a message from Epic Games reads.
“It turns out there was an issue that was preventing the Hydra from appearing in the Birthday Llama.
“We didn’t catch this issue with the Hydra within the Birthday Llamas before we released them and we want to make sure that everyone has a chance at it.
“Thanks for sticking with us as we’ve worked through all of these issues with the Birthday Llamas.”
Here’s the plan of action Epic Games are taking:
- We’ve just rolled out a fix for the Hydra not being obtainable from the Birthday Llamas. They are in there now.
- In addition to adding the Hydra into the Birthday Llama, we’re also adding the Hydra to the Event Store at a discounted price.
- In v5.2 we’ll be adding an extra Birthday Llama to the free Llamas that we’ll be giving out so you’ll all get 3 Birthday Llamas instead of 2.
Epic Games announced that STW will be following in the footsteps of its Battle Royale counterpart in one significant way – adopting the free-to-play model.
Free codes are scheduled to drop sometime in 2018, although no set month has been confirmed.
This will mean massive changes for Save the World, which has built a dedicated community since its launch.
Going free-to-play will include some significant boosts for fans hoping to carry on playing it as their main Fortnite experience.
More players will mean an easier time of starting games, but it will also come with a few drawbacks.
Save the World allow players to earn V-Bucks, and use them in Battle Royale.
And one thing STW fans are hoping to avoid is more players who are just there to farm for Battle Royale skins.
There have also been rumours that something could be announced during Season 5 of the game.
Midway through Fortnite season 4 one leaker made some bold claims about Fortnite season 5.
They claimed that Save The World would be free by the time that Fortnite season 5 ends.
However, they also made claims about other events happening around season 5 that hasn’t occurred.
So at the moment this rumour remains just speculation and should be taken with a big pinch of salt.
The development team made a big announcement this week over some free skins coming to all platforms.
As a way to celebrate the birthday of Fortnite’s release, Epic Games launched new content for Battle Royale and Save the World modes.
These will be available to those who own the Fortnite Founders Pack for Save the World.
Two free skins were included in the Fortnite 5.1 update, which arrived on July 24.
This included the Fortnite Battle Royale skins that can be used in-game.
The Legendary Warpaint and Rose Team Leader Outfits have been selected by Epic Games, while other bonuses are also being prepared for Save the World fans.
“To thank you for your continued support, we’re dropping in two Legendary Founder’s Outfits that you’ll be able to equip in Battle Royale as part of our v5.1 release,” a message from Epic reads.
“These Outfits are exclusive to Save the World founders, both past and future.
“You’ll receive Warpaint and Rose Team Leader, along with exclusive Pursuit and Skirmish Back Bling!”
There is also a new Fortnite Birthday questline in Save the World and earn the Birthday Brigade Ramirez Hero.
