Fortnite is the hottest game in the world right now, with Epic Games hit online title surging in popularity since the Battle Royale and Mobile launch.
And the Cary-based developer looks to be trying to keep the momentum going with the majority of their 700 strong workforce currently focused on Fortnite.
One way Epic has engaged with gamers is continuing to release updates for the free-to-play Fortnite Battle Royale mode.
An update tends to drop every week, typically on a Thursday, with most recently Fortnite Battle Royale fans getting the heavy shotgun.
Back in January, Epic Games released a major map update for Fortnite Battle Royale.
The update added eight new areas added to Battle Royale while existing ones also got a refresh.
New areas that were added include Tilted Towers, a city location that Fortnite fans had been calling for.
And it looks like Epic Games has more map updates planned for Fortnite.
In a post on the developer’s official website, Epic answered a number of frequently asked questions about Fortnite.
And under the header ‘will you add more maps’, the Fortnite team said they will be – but will first of all keep updating the current map.
The Fortnite team said: “Yes, but not right away.
“We’ll also be looking into improving our current map, including adding more points of interest.
“The latest point of interest is Lucky Landing.”
The news will be music to fans’ ears who are hoping to see the battlefield in Fortnite freshened up.
The Fortnite FAQ also revealed Epic Games’ current stance on whether Battle Royale will be getting vehicles.
Fortnite’s big rival PUBG has vehicles as a major component of the gameplay, and previously Epic said they had vehicle prototypes.
And in the FAQ, the Fortnite team said: “Right now we do not have any immediate plans to add vehicles.
“We’ve done some very early prototypes internally, but have concerns with how they’ll affect the flow of Battle Royale.
“We’ll let you know our plans when we have a better understanding of their impact.”
Fortnite was this week updated with the new heavy shotgun weapon for Battle Royale and the latest weekly challenges.
When it was announced, the heavy shotgun was greeted with a mixed reaction – with fans left concerned whether the shotgun was already overpowered.
One fan tweeted: “Oh hey. A new gun has been teased in #Fortnite. Heavy Shotgun coming soon. Says it will have increased range.”
While another wrote: “New Heavy Shotgun (with increased range) coming to Fortnite boys , Good bye Pump , Hello Heavy Shotty”.
And one posted: “How is fortnite going to add a heavy shotgun when the shotguns are already overpowered”.
