The controversial choice of former White House press secretary Sean Spicer for this season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” already caused longtime host Tom Bergeron to speak out, calling it “a slap in the face.”
Now it’s sowing discord among fans of “Queer Eye.” Can you believe?
Karamo Brown, who is the culture expert on Netflix’s hit lifestyle makeover show, will also be on this season of “DWTS,” and Brown voiced his support for Spicer in the midst of all the outrage.
In an interview with Access Hollywood and in a tweet, Brown called Spicer a “very sweet guy” whom he’s “excited to sit down with and engage in respectful conversations.”
Some fans praised Karamo for this tolerant response, saying, “I hope you are successful in that discussion.”
But most others were not having it.
Outspoken “Bad Feminist” author Roxane Gay tweeted at the reality show star to “get a f—ing grip.”
“It would have been so easy to just be quiet but this dude insists on being loud and wrong in public on a regular basis,” one fan wrote.
Time will tell if this backlash is just talk or if it impacts the ratings for either show.
Season 5 of “Queer Eye” doesn’t have a premiere date yet. “Dancing With the Stars” Season 28 premieres Sept. 16 on ABC.
