The date for the trailer was leaked by Hollywood insider Daniel RPK, who has a track record of accuracy with Marvel dates.

He went on to say the originally the teaser was set to debut online at the same time as the Comic-Con screening, but Sony decided to hold it back.

Though the trailer itself hasn’t been shared online, those in attendance at Comic-Con were able to tweet their reactions.

Collider wrote: “So Sony Pictures just world premiered the Spider-Man Far From Home trailer (which looks f***ing awesome) and then Jake Gyllenhaal came out and surprised the CCXP 2018 crowd.

“The crowd was so loud during the trailer I could barely hear some of the dialogue!”

Spider-Man: Far From Home comes packed with an A-list cast, including some new faces to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

New to the sequel is Numan Acar, who has been cast as a character named Dimitri.

Though the studio has been quiet about who Dimitri is, many believe it is Dimitri Smerdyakov, aka Chameleon, a supervillain depicted in early Spider-Man comics.

Returning to their roles are Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Angourie Rice, and Hemky Madera as Parker’s best friend Ned, his rival Eugene “Flash” Thompson, his classmate Betty Brant, and Mr Delmar, the owner of a local bodega, respectively.

From the main cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming Zendaya, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Zendaya, and Marisa Tomei are all reprising their roles.

The surprise addition to the cast came in the form of Jake Gyllenhaal, who takes up the mantle of villain Mysterio.

Scant details have yet to be released about the Spider-Man sequel, though this is far from atypical when it comes to Marvel movies.

Fans will be most curious as to how Spider-Man returns to life in the aftermath of Avengers: Infinity War.

Spider-Man was one of the characters to be snapped out of existence by Thanos.

Spider-Man Far From Home is out in cinemas July 5, 2019.
