The bad news for gamers this week is that the upcoming Fortnite live event time has been pushed back until early June. It’s a bit of a blow for those hoping to get their teeth into Fortnite Season 3 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Mobile. But while seeing the delay of the new Fortnite live event is a bit of a blow, it does come with a few surprise extras.
There haven’t been a huge number of Fortnite events that have been given their own names before they launch.
Sometimes we have learnt what they are called through data miners, who have used internal names found in the game files.
Most of them have been named by the community, let’s not forget Kevin the Cube, but things have been tweaked a little.
Because of the announced Fortnite live event time delay, Epic Games has gone as far as to name the next event.
The next Fortnite live event is called “The Device” and while it doesn’t give much away, it’s nice for it to have been officially named.
Gamers have been referring to it as the Doomsday Device event, and many believe it will include some big fireworks.
The current theory is that the new device will flood different parts of the map through some kind of environmental attack.
Fortnite: The Device will be kicking off on Saturday, June 6, at 2pm ET, instead of this weekend.
The Fortnite live event time for gamers in the UK is 7pm GMT, and Epic Games has also warned everyone to jump into servers from 6:30pm GMT onward.
This gives Epic Games some extra time to prepare everything for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3, which will be kicking off on June 11.
Here is the official announcement from Epic Games naming the new Fortnite event, along with details regarding Fortnite Season 3:
“Hey everyone, in an effort to get everything ready for Chapter 2 – Season 3, we’re extending Season 2 by one week.
“The new launch day of Season 3 will be Thursday, June 11. Also make sure to check out a one-time-only live event called The Device, now scheduled for Saturday, June 6 at 2 PM ET (please show up 30 minutes early to help secure your spot, space is limited!).
“Before the new Season, don’t forget to complete your Battle Pass Challenges and lock in appearance choices for Brutus, TNTina, Meowscles, Skye, Midas, and Maya.
“There’s still time to complete the recently-added Location Domination and Storm The Agency Challenges.
“For the latest, be sure to follow our social media channels. Thanks for your patience and continued support.”
Epic Games likes to share most event news through Easter eggs and teasers, so this change is something a little different.
It was also much needed, as it wouldn’t have led to a lot of disappointed gamers tuning in on May 30 to find nothing happening.
With the extra time now secured, we could see more news shared regarding The Device event and Season 3 of Fortnite in the coming days.
