Televangelist Jim Bakker, 78, made the controversial comments on an episode of The Jim Bakker Show alongside his co-host and wife Lori.
The End of Times pastor claimed God had told him the information personally.
Bakker, whose reputation was tainted after a sex scandal and charges of fraud, said during the segment: “This is what He told me.
“He said, ‘Donald Trump is a respite in this troubled times and I sent him in grace to give you time to prepare for what’s coming on earth.’”
He said on the show, which aired Wednesday, that while “the Antichrist spirit” has been let loose on America, “God has given us a man who is not afraid to fight.
“We have a president people think is crazy.
“They call him crazy, but he’s making peace treaties, he’s doing all the things to try to solve the world’s problems and God has put him on earth – God spoke to me the other night, He said, ‘I put Donald Trump on earth to give you time, the church, to get ready.’”
The show’s website describes it as “…an hour-long daily broadcast featuring prophetic and Biblical revelations brought to light in today’s world.

Bakker believes that recent events like Hurricane Harvey Irma and Maria are signs that we are coming to the end.
He often tells viewers “we are in the final days”.

And on the show, and the show’s website, he touts the importance of being prepared.
For him, being prepared means having a generator package, seven years worth of food, the When Nature Calls offer, which includes a bucket with a toilet seat and six rolls of tissue, and a fruit bundle with a 20-year shelf life.
