The recent DC movies are often criticised for being too dark and depressing.
Marvel has been giving them a good run recently, following the staggering and devastating death toll in Avengers Infinity War.
Deadpool 2 has joined the ghoulish fun with another high head count, including one particularly beloved character.
The screenwriters have revealed that the shocking death was followed by a really disturbing montage which will now be on the extended home entertainment release.
WARNING MAJOR DEADPOOL 2 SPOILERS
Just like Infinity War, the first brutal death comes early in the movie.
Wade’s love for Vanessa was the one bright light in his life and it is snuffed out in an early scene.
He is shown tries to incinerate himself on a pile if gasoline barrels, but screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick recently revealed they wrote and filmed a truly disturbing montage whic was deleted from teh theatrical version.
They said: “One thing we really wanted to see and actually shot was a Deadpool suicide montage, where DP is trying to kill himself over and over in increasingly violent ways (like) drinking Drano, jumping into a polar bear enclosure etc.
“You should be able to see it on the DVD!”
This is fantastic news, not because of the terrible content of the montage, but because it confirms there will be an extended cut of the movie.
This follows the news there was an even more controversial scene that was also deleted.
An additional end credit scene was filmed and originally included in the first test screenings.
It showed Deadpool going back in time to a nursery where he finds the crib of baby Adolf Hitler. In the scene he smiles at the camera before leaning in and strangling the baby. Early audiences found it too disturbing and the filmmakers decided it pulled vewers too far out of the movie.
The scene was deleted but also seems likely to be included on the home entertainment packages.
