Chelsea star N’Golo Kante is wanted by Real Madrid duo Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, according to reports.
The France international is being linked with a move to the Bernabeu next summer with reports in Spain going as far to say the two clubs have come to an agreement.
Real Madrid have Casemiro as their holding midfielder but Zinedine Zidane has long been a Kante admirer and would love to welcome his compatriot to the Bernabeu.
And The Athletic say Courtois and Hazard have privately remarked the Chelsea star is exactly what Los Blancos need.
The La Liga titans spent over £300million on new recruits back in the summer.
But they failed to bring in a midfielder with pursuits of Manchester United and Ajax players Paul Pogba and Donny van De Beek failing to pay off.
Zidane feels Kante would inject energy into his side.
Toni Kroos has struggled in the middle of the park while Luka Modric has not been the same since winning the Ballon d’Or last year.
The report says, though, that there is an issue when it comes to any potential transfer.
And that’s because Real feel it may be tough to endorse his signing to fans. Supporters of the Spanish club usually crave significantly more skilful and exciting players.
Chelsea are under no pressure to let Kante go after he signed a contract extension back in November.
And former Blues star Nigel Spackman believes the decision to tie the 28-year-old down for the long haul was key.
“Chelsea have done really good business to get him on a new long-term deal,” he told The Athletic.
“The longer the contract, the more secure you are, although agents can still force moves, tap clubs and players up.
“Chelsea can’t afford to lose him. The coach, Frank Lampard, will be saying he is the most important player in my group — he will help the younger players develop, like Mason Mount. On the pitch, you need someone to help the younger players.
“Most of the top teams are looking for a player like Kante, a player who has the ability to break up play and use the ball well.
“I’m not sure there is anyone else that does it as well as him in the world.
“If you sell, who do you replace him with? Not only is he a top player but he is a good person to have in the dressing room. N’Golo is down to earth. Those are the people you want at your club.”
