Those who look up to the sky on Friday, July 27 will be treated to the longest Blood Moon of the 21st century.
The total lunar eclipse will last a whopping one hour and 43 minutes.
This will be the second Blood Moon of the year, and it will also be the closest Mars has been to Earth in 15 years.
Skygazers were first treated to a rare Super Blue Blood Moon on January 31 this year.
This Friday, July 27, the skies will turn a deep shade of red again during the total lunar eclipse.
As with the previous eclipses, conspiracy theorists and evangelical Christians believe it is a s sign of the end times.
This is referred to as the Blood Moon prophecy.
What is the Blood Moon prophecy?
While Blood Moon prophecies date back as far as we can go, today’s version gained widespread attention in 2014.
The Blood Moon prophecy is a set of apocalyptic beliefs, brought about by Christian ministers John Hagee and Mark Blitz.
The prophecy is linked to a series of four consecutive lunar eclipses, or a tetrad, coinciding on Jewish holidays.
There will be six full moons in between the eclipses, and no intervening partial lunar eclipses, which is a sign of the end times.

Blood Moon prophecy
A Blood Moon first appeared on April 2014, which was a sign of the beginning of the end times, according to the Bible.
The later Blood Moon eclipses were October 8, 2014 and April 5, 2015.
The tetrad ended when the sky turned a deep shade of red on September 27, 2015.
This prophecy, related to the beginning of the end times, was described in the Bible in the Book of Joel, 2:20, and Revelation 6:12.
A Blood Moon was used as a sign of the end of the world in a passage: “The sun will turn into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.”

In the Book of Revelation, chapter 6 verses 11-13 the Blood moon is mentioned again: “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and lo, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.”
After Mark Blitz said he had discovered an astronomical pattern, he predicted the second coming of Jesus would come in Autumn 2015.
Hague took upon himself to write Four Blood Moons, which he based on Blitz’s theory.
However, he did not claim the Blood Moon was a sign of the end times, but claimed every tetrad of the last 500 years coincided with Jewish events.
Harold Camping predicted that devastating earthquakes would occur on May 21, 2011 but nothing happened
Of course, the Blood Moon prophecy of 2015 never came to pass.
But this has’t stopped Blood Moon predictions from surfacing on a continuing basis.
One of these conspiracy theorists is US pastor Paul Begley, who believes the Blood Moon on July 27 is a sign of the end times.
He said on a YouTube video: “We are in the era of the apocalypse. And this blood moon, which will be the longest blood moon of this century, is happening in the 70th year of Israel being a nation.
“It’s happening in the 70th year that Jerusalem has been declared the eternal city of God, and it’s happening when the valances already erupting in Hawaii.”
