Antoine Griezmann is said to be a top priority signing for Barcelona in the summer, if they can get Atletico Madrid to play ball.
Diego Simeone’s side are naturally reluctant to sell such an important player to their La Liga rivals.
However, Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Atletico are coming round to the idea of getting rid of the France international.
And they will reportedly sanction the deal if they receive fellow Frenchman Ousmane Dembele in a player-plus-cash deal.
The report says Simeone has specifically asked for Dembele to be included in negotiations to lessen the blow of Griezmann’s exit.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has struggled since his big-money move to the Nou Camp and has been plagued by injury.
So Barca may consider getting him off their books, especially if it facilitates the arrival of Griezmann.
The Atletico star’s proposed move to the Catalan side is no secret and it is said the No 7 shirt has deliberately been left vacant for his summer arrival.
“Griezmann is definitely a target – €100m (£88.2m) is what he will cost this summer,” he told Sky Sports.
“Barcelona feel that Griezmann has been very positive about the possibility of joining Barcelona as well.
“Even though Atletico has taken the case to FIFA, for the alleged illegal approach of Barcelona, basically what Atletico have told Griezmann is, ‘If you want to stay, we’re happy for you to stay, if you want to go, there are other ways of doing this’.
“They are just being realistic to Griezmann.
“Atletico wanted to take pressure away from him and focus on the rest of the season.
“To be honest, in the last month, Griezmann has been a better player.
“With Diego Costa next to him, you’ve seen a player that has delivered much better than he had done earlier in the season, scoring a goal or an assist in six of the last seven games.
“Of course he’s absolutely a target for Barcelona, no doubt about it.”
