Top bonds at new banks: Atom Bank launches a six-month fixed rate deal at 1.79%
Atom Bank has launched a six-month fixed rate bond at 1.79 per cent
New banks are tempting savers with short-term bonds.
Atom Bank has launched a six-month fixed rate at 1.79 per cent, while OakNorth has a similar deal at 1.75 per cent.
While the rates look better than the 1.3 per cent on a standard easy-access, it means some £24.50 extra interest on each £10,000 over six-months.
With variable-rate accounts, Coventry BS has boosted its Limited Access Easy Saver rate to 1.35 per cent, including a 0.35 per cent bonus for the first year.
The account limits you to three free withdrawals.
And Bank of Cyprus now pays 1.34 per cent to new savers in its Online Easy Access account for 12 months, after which it drops to 0.85 per cent.
