Microsoft confirmed that it is working on new Xbox hardware during its E3 2018 press conference.
Fresh reports have emerged in the days following the announcement, including potential release date information and more.
According to a report in Thurrott, the new Xbox is codenamed Scarlett.
Interestingly, the report suggests that Project Scarlett is described as a family of devices.
This would suggest that the next Xbox will be available with different specs and functionality.
But perhaps most exciting of all is the news that the new Xbox will have a 2020 release date.
It’s likely we’ll find out more about the devices during next year’s E3 gaming expo.
A previous report suggested that Microsoft is looking to hire a GDDR6 expert to work on the new Xbox.
It was also said that streaming will be heavily integrated into the console.
Not only would this enable fans to stream entire games, but developers could use the technology to dynamically update in-game environments.
Elsewhere, the new Xbox could be forwards and backwards compatible.
Similar to the Xbox One X, this would ensure it supports new games and existing Xbox One games.
Microsoft announced Halo Infinite, Gears of War 5 and Forza Horizon 4 at this year’s E3.
One of the least surprising announcements from this year’s E3, Forza Horizon 4 has an October 2 release date.
The new game is set in an open world Britain, and will feature dynamic seasons that will impact gameplay.
Players will be able to drive around the English countryside, coastal regions, villages and even cities like Edinburgh.
