Since the Italians joined the tournament to make it the Six Nations in 2000, four times a side has attempted to win a third title in a row.
And each of those times, the hat-trick has proved a bridge too far, including England themselves back in 2002.
But Eddie Jones has overseen just one defeat since taking after the 2015 Rugby World Cup and his side will start the Six Nations as clear favourites for the trophy.

Italy and England will kick off at 3pm on Sunday February 4.

The Six Nations coverage for 2018 has been split between ITV and the BBC once again.
ITV will show all of England’s home games as well as four others while the BBC will retain all of the other eight matches including England’s trips to Edinburgh and Paris.
But their opening away game in Rome will be live on ITV with coverage starting at 3.15pm.

Since both ITV and BBC are terrestrial and free-to-air, every game of the Six Nations will be shown live online for free.
Viewers simply need to hold a valid TV licence and may be required to sign in on the BBC website in order to watch France vs Ireland.
