Fortnite season 4 – Is this when the release date and start time will be?
Fortnite season 4 is just around the corner, with the release date and start time for the big Battle Pass update fast approaching.
Fortnite season 3 is set to finish on Monday, with the Fortnite season 4 release date expected to follow soon afterwards.
And ahead of the big launch, Epic Games have been ramping up the Fortnite season 4 hype. On Thursday the developer revealed the first official Fortnite season 4 teaser.
The Fortnite Twitter account posted the season 4 teaser alongside the message “Battle. Adapt. Win.”
They also said that Fortnite season 4 is “coming soon”.
The promo image for Fortnite season 4 showed two very revealing things.
The first is the outline for what looks like a comet strike, and the second is a new Fortnite skin resembling a superhero costume.
The meteor artwork looks to back up the much-rumoured Fortnite fan theory that Fortnite season 4 will kick off with a meteor strike on Tilted Towers.
The following day Epic Games all but confirmed the superhero theme for Fortnite season 4.
On Friday a second piece of promo artwork was posted online showing another Fortnite season 4 skin.
It was again a superhero outfit which resembled Wonder Woman, while the first superhero outfit teased resembled The Flash.
So it’s possible Fortnite season 4 could have a focus on superheroes from the DC Comics universe.
Besides new Fortnite skins, fans are expecting a whole host of new updates in Fortnite season 4 including more weekly challenges, loot and even a new map.
While a Fortnite season 4 release date has not been confirmed yet, looking at past release schedules may give us an indication of when it will launch.
During the last season cross over, Fortnite season 3 started a day after Fortnite season 2 began.
So with Fortnite season 3 set to end on Monday, there is a chance Fortnite season 4 could have a release date as early as Tuesday May 1.
In terms of a start time, last time around Fortnite season 3 launched after around two hours of server downtime.
It was then taken offline shortly after that due to a slight hiccup, with the new season fully playable five hours after server downtime began.
So, if all goes to play on release date Fortnite fans can expect to be playing Fortnite season 4 after a few hours of downtime, with those in the UK hopefully playing by midday.
The caveat to all of this is that Fortnite season 3, last time round, was delayed by one day.
This was to give fans extra time to complete all that season 2 had to offer.
It remains to be seen if Epic Games pulls a similar move with Fortnite season 4.
Express.co.uk’s educated guess would put the Fortnite season 4 release date anywhere between Tuesday May 1 and Thursday May 3.
Fortnite season 4 – The first official teaser for Fortnite season 4 emerged on Thursday
This is to factor in any delays to the start of Fortnite season 4 or if Epic decides to launch it on a Thursday.
That is the day that Epic tends to launch big Fortnite updates.
One thing is for sure though, Fortnite season 4 will be launching next week.
In a dev update video posted on the Fortnite Twitter account on Thursday, Epic Games’s Billy Bramer revealed more details about what fans have in store with Fortnite season 4.
And he also gave a release window for Fortnite season 4.
In the video he said: “We’ve got some great new stuff coming in patch 4.0.
“Brand new event, military weapon set, shadow ops heroes including a soldier with a brand new ability to add to their arsenal.
“We can’t wait for you to check it out next week.”
