Fortnite developer Epic Games has bad news for fans waiting for the Playground LTM.
The Playground practice mode has been plagued by matchmaking issues since launching as part of update 4.5.
The game mode was quickly taken offline as Epic Games searched for a solution to the problem.
But after giving fans hope that the LTM would return in time for the weekend, Epic Games has now said that it won’t be available until next week.
“We’re still unable to resolve issues preventing the launch of the Playground LTM,” reads an Epic tweet.
“We are holding the release until next week to continue hammering away this weekend. We’re sorry we haven’t been able to get you in the LTM, and we know waiting is the worst.”
In a follow-up tweet, Epic said: “We’ll update you with any additional information on Monday, July 2.”
According to Epic Games, the matchmaking service “fell over” after the limited time mode was activated.
The studio has since separated the Playground matchmaker from the service used for default modes.
This is while it tests matchmaking improvements that will be able to handle the increased demand.
“We’re continuing to test improvements made to our matchmaking services for the Playground LTM,” reads the latest Epic Games update.
“We want to get you out there and let you unleash your creativity but also want to ensure a positive experience once we enable this game mode again.
“We’ll give you more updates and a timeline as soon as we have one.”
When Playground does finally return, fans will be able to use the mode to practice building and sample weapons and traps.
“Battle and build to your heart’s content with an extended period of time to roam around the map as well as increased resource generation,” reads an Epic blog post.
“All treasure chests and ammo crates will be spawned, try droppin’ in different spots and scope out the loot.
“Playground is a low-pressure environment where friends can let their creativity run wild. Build massive structures.
“Practice with the weapons and items. Fight against your friends. Have fun!”
